Races: avariel

Avariels are a reclusive race of winged elves who make their homes high 
in the mountains.  Their bodies are even more slight than their elven
cousins, with hollow bones to allow for flight.  Their soft, feathered
wings come in a wide range of colors and reach spans often up to three
times the height of the avariel from wingtip to wingtip.  Their wings are
the avariel's greatest pride, as for an avariel, there is no greater joy
than the freedom of flight. Avariels have an otherworldly beauty to them,
with angular features and soft, pale skin that takes on a bluish or silver
tint.  Their hair is usually black or pale silver, although other colors 
are also possible.  Their eyes are most often brilliant, gem-like shades 
of blue or green, although amethyst and even pink are not entirely
uncommon.


Avariels are people of the realm of Magic.  Their quick and graceful
movements and wisdom in dealings with others make them ideal candidates 
for many jobs, though they are especially suited to divine or arcane
magic; hollow bones and slight bodies make hand-to-hand combat difficult 
for avariels. Like most other elves, avariels' night vision is superior, 
but not as strong as that of the drow.
